What data Wakakash collects, why, who it is shared with and how you stay in control.

Privacy Terms of use Cookies

1. Who is responsible for your data

Wakakash is a personal finance management service published by Tamaroas, which is responsible for processing your personal data.

For any question about this policy or your data, write to us at contact@wakakash.com.

2. The data we collect

We only collect what the service needs to work:

  • Your account: full name, email address, phone number (WhatsApp), country, main currency, language and time zone. Your password is stored in an irreversible encrypted form (hash), never in plain text.
  • The financial information you enter yourself: accounts, income, expenses, transfers, savings, categories, descriptions, budgets, goals, debts, and the receipt photos you choose to add.
  • Information about other people that you enter, for example the name of someone you owe money to. Only enter what is useful to you.
  • Your preferences: reminders, notifications, whether or not you want WhatsApp messages.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, sign-in dates, error logs. They are used to secure your account and fix problems.

3. What we do not collect

  • Wakakash is not connected to your bank account or your Mobile Money account. We never have access to your money and cannot make any payment on your behalf.
  • We do not collect any bank card data.
  • We use no advertising, no advertising trackers and no third-party audience measurement tools.

4. Why we use your data

  • To provide the service you asked for: record your transactions, compute your balances, statistics, budgets, goals and reports. This is necessary to perform the terms of use.
  • To send you the notifications you turned on, at the local time you chose.
  • To send you WhatsApp messages, only if you agreed by sending START. You can stop at any time by sending STOP or from your profile.
  • To protect your account and the service: sign-in security, abuse prevention, error diagnosis. This is our legitimate interest.
  • To meet our legal obligations where they apply.

The insights shown by Wakakash (for example a rise in your transport spending) are computed automatically from your own data, using fixed rules. No artificial intelligence analyses your data today. If such a feature arrives, it will be optional and you will decide whether to turn it on.

5. Who your data is shared with

Your data is never sold or rented. It is only passed to the providers the service needs, who are not allowed to use it for their own purposes:

  • The host of the Wakakash servers, which stores the database and files.
  • WhatsApp (Meta), if you turned on WhatsApp messages: your number and the content of the messages go through a sending gateway and then through WhatsApp, which applies its own terms and privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts and jsDelivr, which provide the typeface and the icons of the application: your browser sends them your IP address when it downloads these files.
  • Public authorities, only when the law requires it.

6. Transfers outside your country

Some providers may process data in a country other than yours. In that case, we choose providers that offer appropriate protection safeguards and we limit the data passed on to what is strictly necessary.

7. How long we keep it

  • Your account data and financial information: as long as your account exists. After your account is deleted, they are erased within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep part of them.
  • The history of WhatsApp messages sent: 90 days, then automatic deletion.
  • Technical and sign-in logs: 12 months at most.
  • Backups: they are replaced over time; deleted data disappears from backups as they are renewed.

8. How we protect your data

  • Exchanges between your device and our servers are encrypted (HTTPS).
  • Your password is hashed; nobody, not even at Tamaroas, can read it.
  • Each account is isolated: a user can never see another user’s data.
  • Access to the servers is limited to the people who need it to run the service.

To work offline, Wakakash keeps on your device the entries waiting to be synchronised and a copy of some pages of your space. These page copies are erased when you sign out. On a shared device, remember to sign out.

9. Your rights

Depending on the law that applies in your country, you can in particular:

  • access your data and get a copy of it;
  • correct it: most of it can be changed directly from your profile;
  • ask for it to be deleted, along with your account;
  • object to some processing or ask for it to be restricted;
  • get your data back in a readable format (portability);
  • withdraw your consent to WhatsApp messages at any time, by sending STOP or from your profile.

10. Exercising your rights

Write to us at contact@wakakash.com from the address linked to your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We reply within one month.

If you believe your rights are not respected, you can also contact the personal data protection authority of your country.

11. Minimum age

Wakakash is intended for people who are adults under the law of their country. We do not knowingly collect data about minors.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as the service evolves, for example when a new feature or a new provider arrives. For any significant change, you will be told in the application before it takes effect. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
